Mark Dake
A Lifetime in the Arena
A foundation in competition. A career spanning continents. The investigative eye of an author — applied with surgical precision to the modern game.

A Foundation in Competition
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Mark's journey began on the summer tournament circuit. His competitive drive carried him to the United States, where he played collegiate tennis for Anderson College in South Carolina before competing on a scholarship for Illinois State.
Elite Academies, Global Reach
As a Canadian-certified coach, Mark's career has spanned the breadth of his home country — Vancouver, Toronto, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island. Internationally, his resume reads like a target list of the sport's most respected institutions: he developed players at the legendary Saddlebrook Tennis Academy in Florida under Harry Hopman, then at the world-renowned J.C. Ferrero Academy in Spain. His global coaching tour continued through Austria (Salzburg and Klagenfurt), Germany, Qatar, and Australia.

Witnessing the Legends
During the golden eras of the 1970s and 80s, Mark had a front-row seat to the evolution of the game. He watched the icons — Borg, Ashe, Connors, McEnroe, Laver — compete at the Canadian Open and WCT tournaments in Toronto.
That deep historical perspective is the lens he now turns on the modern game.
The Investigative Eye
Now based in South Korea, Mark brings a rare investigative skill set to his commentary. As a published author of non-fiction works on the Korean peninsula — including South Korea: The Enigmatic Peninsula — and mystery thrillers, he's spent years training the muscle that matters most for great analysis: looking past the surface. That same rigor is what he now applies, shot by shot, to the court.
